這星期工作都十分忙碌，好不容易閑下來後才打開新同事送我的雜誌。
同事名叫Peter Sabine，在香港出生長大的英美混血兒。（我問他where you from，他說我也是混血兒哦，英國混美國）。
他為雜誌《BOOM》撰寫了兩個音樂專欄，這本雜誌在香港是免費取閱的，在香港一些很有名的音樂酒吧，例如Hidden Agenda內亦能找到它的影踪。由於Peter的母語是英文，所以他寫的是英文稿。雖說雜誌本來也有中文譯文，但我略嫌有點生硬，於是我決定就著Peter的個性把這篇譯文重新翻譯一遍，他也很大方地同意了。
LOFTER每次只能放一首歌，所以我也會就著歌的內容而節選他的專欄。

I always hated maths at school, so it was a surprise that I became a math rock addict. A few years ago, I could barely tell you what the style even was.
唸書的時候，我最最討厭數學，所以我壓根兒沒想過我會愛上數字搖滾。在數年前，我根本不理解它屬於哪一種音樂風格。
Defined by complex structure, irregular time signatures, angular guitars lines, and stop/start drumming, the genre has the ability to exhilarate and engage emotions, taking listeners from breakneck pace to unhurried ballads along the way.
數字搖滾由不同的元素構成，包括有複雜的結構、不規則的拍子記號、尖銳的結他演奏再加上以鼓聲作停頓或開始。這種音樂既能讓你釋放，又能讓你投入感情。它帶領聽眾由極端高速的節奏，慢慢走到緩慢的抒情旋律。Japanese bands are rivaling the top math rock outfilts to be found anywhere in the world. Through the efforts of local promoters such as Gary Leong from White Noise Records, Hong Kong fans have been able to enjoy shows over the years, and as an introduction to theres band. I've selected my favourite shows from over the years.
日本的數字搖滾可謂位屬環球一線之列。在香港White Noise Records的經理人Gary Leong的大力推動下，香港樂迷多年以來一直都有不少機會欣賞不同樂隊的表演，而像我這種的小樂迷亦瞬間被數學（當然是搖滾中的數學啦）深深地給俘虜了。以下我將與大家分享我這些年來最愛的表演。
Toe
With a laid back sound incorporating folk and jazz influences. Toe are one of the most popular Japnese math rock bands in Hong Kong. For this show they performed on an intimate circular stage, their chilled electric guitar folk carrying a sophisticated sound embellished with acoustic guitars, jazz/ funk breaks, Rhodes piano tones and vibraphone licks. With transitions from fast-paced funk to ambient breakdowns, Toe presented a dreamy evening of rock.

Key Track: Two MoonToe的音樂注入了民謠和爵士樂的元素，予人一種慵懶的感覺，是香港最受歡迎的日本數字搖滾樂隊之一。在這場演出中，他們採用了一個親切的圓型舞台，冷冰冰的民謠吉他卻奏出了細緻的音樂，配上原音吉他，爵士或放克碎拍、電鋼琴的旋律和顫音琴的敲擊，將節奏明快的放克傳送開去，融化四周的氣氛，Toe為大家帶來了一個夢幻的搖滾之夜。

因著這篇文章我也翻了一些數字搖滾來聽，著實很不錯，現選的也是Peter在文中提及的曲目。
